Linda L. Piazza, CCC-SLP is a Speech Language Pathologist in private practice, serving preschool and kindergarten age students. Linda’s education includes a B.S. in Speech Language Pathology from the Mississippi University for Women, an M.S. in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She attained a School Administrator Certification from Mississippi College. She holds the following Mississippi Teacher’s Certificates: AA 220 Education for the Handicapped (K-12); AA 486 Administrator; AA 489 Special Subject Supervisor (K-12); AA 215 Speech Language Clinician (K12). Her professional affiliations include serving as past ASHA STAR (State Advocate for Reimbursement), and current ASHA Co-STAR from MSHA. Linda was elected as Vice President of Healthcare for 2019. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the MSHA Legislative Committee. She is actively involved in associations at the local, state and national level. In 2014 Linda was awarded the MSHA Clinical Achievement Award. Linda’s professional experience includes: Chief of Speech Therapy for a decade at the University of Mississippi Center; Instructor of Speech Language Pathology at Mississippi College; Special Education Director for Copiah County Schools in Hazlehurst. For over two decades, Linda has served as the owner and principal Speech Language Pathologist of Speech Care Associates, providing speech language pathology services to many of the underserved communities in Mississippi. Most recently, for over a decade, Linda has contracted with Humphreys County Schools as the sole provider of speech language services for children in Head Start. She has been instrumental in early identification and evaluation of underserved children while accomplishing a full range of therapeutic services. As an active MSHA and ASHA member during her professional practice, Linda has pioneered the development and maintenance of relationships with other health care providers in the community such as doctors, nurse practitioners, mental health consultants, and social workers in order to ensure that all of the needs of the children are met. In this role she provides constant monitoring and contact with all professionals to ensure the total progress of each child.
Mallory Upchurch joined the University of Mississippi Medical Center faculty in March 2015 as a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist. She attended graduate school at the University of Mississippi where she received a MS degree in speech pathology. She currently serves as the team leader for pediatric speech services and continuing education coordinator for the division of speech pathology at UMMC. She is a board certified neonatal therapist. She provides evaluation and treatment services for pediatrics in the acute care and NICU settings. She was awarded UMMC Speech Pathologist of the year in 2017 and completed the Millsaps College Else School of Management Business Advantage Program in 2018. She specializes in dysphagia and swallowing/feeding disorders.
